Bedwetting - A Frequent Problem

Bedwetting is a most common problem worldwide but nobody takes notice of it or people are ashamed to talk on this matter or to admit it. People do not care and only think of it as a natural process, but unfortunately that is not the case. And yet this matter is tended to be swept under the carpet. Children suffering from bedwetting feel shy to discuss this problem with their parents, which prolongs this problem.

Commonly there are two main cause of bedwetting. One is the undiagnosed medical condition and the other one is due to psychological effects. It is better for the parents to find out the cause of bedwetting first before taking any steps. But there are some things which lead the parents to avoid determining the cause of bedwetting. Things which prevent parents from helping their children are as follows:

1) One of the reasons is shame; children take it as embarrassing for them and their parents as well. Children hesitate in telling about the matter. The sign of shame should be removed in order to control this problem.

2)Sometimes parents take it wrong and misconception is created.

3)Usually parents do not seem to show any care towards the child’s problem as they think of bedwetting as a normal childhood ailment.

4)Another thing is anger; parents feel disturbed and angry, because they are totally unaware of the problem and consider it a frustrating situation. Before moving to the solutions for bedwetting, one should understand the symptoms of bedwetting. Bedwetting occurs in those children who bear little or no trouble in controlling bladder during the day time, but at night they experience the unwanted experience of bedwetting. It means that bed time which is supposed to be a relaxing rest time is an awful occasion for them.

According to experts bedwetting is not a rare problem and almost eight out of every ten children are victims of bedwetting. Now this is a huge figure.

Doctors recommend patience and time as the best way to resolve the problem.
