The Basics Of Bedwetting
Bed wetting is very common amongst children between 5 and 7.
It’s one of the many basic problems that parents face regarding their
children in their early stages of growth. Most parents try to put an
end to all the bedwetting by giving their children potty training.
Usually it’s impossible for a child to stay dry at night and most don’t
grow out of bedwetting till they reach age 8.
Statistics of bedwetting
It’s at the age of 5 when the child really struggles with this problem.
After many calculations based on research by experts on this matter,
the following can be concluded:
1) Nearly 15% of all children still wet their beds after they reach the
age of 5
2) 7-10% develop this habit at the age of 7
3) Approximately 3% of boys and 2% of girls are facing this problem
at the age of 10
4) And only 1% of boys still wet their bed at the age of 18
Here we can see that bedwetting may be more common amongst the younger
kids but clearly older people experience it too. Most of the children
simply grow out of it naturally and statistics show that nearly 15% of
children outgrow bedwetting each year.
Why do kids bed wet
It’s been proven that genetics play a huge role towards children
developing a habit out of bedwetting. If both parents did in face wet
their beds as children then the chances of their child wetting his/her
bed is around 77%. If only one of the parents had the bedwetting
problem then there is a 44% chance that the child will face this
problem. However if neither of the parents had to face this problem as
a child then there is less than 15% chance that their child will in
fact turn out a bed-wetter.
